How ScentAir Ensures Fragrance Safety

ScentAir has always been proactive in the maintenance of our safety record and commitment to social responsibility.

We’ve taken a three-pronged approach to maintaining high safety standards through:

  • Internal regulation
  • External regulation
  • Supply chain compliance
Internal regulation

ScentAir takes pride in meeting, and more often exceeding, regulatory standards. To ensure we’re always in compliance, our in-house Fragrance Regulatory Team directly monitors the safety of each fragrance. They ensure all appropriate safety documentation is on reviewed and maintained at all times. They also directly support customer service for all inquiries about safety. This allows ScentAir customers to have easy access to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) or other safety documentation upon request.

External regulation

We have high standards for ourselves. But it’s the regulatory bodies who help us understand how we can achieve those high standards of safety. Fragrances are among the most highly tested ingredients in the consumer product marketplace. For nearly fifty years the fragrance industry has led the charge on safety. Materials used by the fragrance industry have been evaluated by the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM). In fact, the RIFM safety program has been in place longer than the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

RIFM has partnered with the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) to establish usage standards for fragrance materials. They ensure that companies who are IFRA members comply with defined standards and put them into practice. Products can be tested at any time to verify compliance.

ScentAir is proud to be the only member of IFRA within the ambient scenting industry. Verification of membership for ScentAir can be found on the IFRA Fragrance Creators Association members page.

Here are just a few of the regulatory bodies ScentAir complies with:

  • Member of the International Fragrance Association (IFRA)
  • Registered with the EPA in accordance with the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
  • Comply with VOC guidelines set forth by the California Air Resources Board (CARB)
  • Our fragrances do NOT contain any components found to be carcinogenic per the following Regulatory bodies:
    • National Toxicology Department (NTP)2
    • International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC)3
    • Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA)4
Supply chain compliance

ScentAir sources our fragrances from trusted industry leaders. These fragrance companies are subject to the same regulations as ScentAir. We make it a priority to work exclusively with partners who maintain compliance with regulatory bodies. So, from fragrance creation, to the moment it leaves the ScentAir warehouse, you can rest assured that each level of the supply chain remains compliant with regulatory practices.
